About the Show:
Sunrise Bhojonbilashi offers an immersive journey through West Bengal’s diverse culinary landscape, seamlessly blending food and travel into an irresistible experience. Hosted by the charismatic RJ Somak, an avid foodie, the series traverses five districts—Bolpur, Purulia, Murshidabad, Bankura, and Kolkata. Each episode features a celebrity guest who joins Somak in exploring the history, culture, and flavors that define each region's cuisine.
A standout feature of the show is ‘Kumropotash,’ a quirky mobile food truck inspired by Sukumar Ray’s iconic character. Positioned at iconic locations like Victoria Memorial, Panchkote Raj Fort, Hazaduari Murshidabad, Susunia Hills and others, this food truck serves as the culinary epicenter of each episode, anchoring the show’s travel component.
Each 15 minute episode offers a delightful combination of cooking sessions with local chefs, intriguing cultural insights, and captivating stories. Celebrity guests—including Saurav Das, Ushasi Ray, Ankita Chatterjee, Durnibar Saha, and Anirban Chakrabarti—add their unique flavor to the experience, ensuring that each episode is both entertaining and informative.
RJ Somak adds, “As a foodie, hosting Sunrise Bhojonbilashi has been an absolute joy. Exploring Bengal’s rich culinary heritage, with its unique flavors and stories, is an experience that has deepened my love for our food culture.”
"With Sunrise Bhojonbilashi, we aimed to blend the joy of travel with the rich diversity of Bengali cuisine. Each episode is a celebration of tradition, culture, and flavors that will resonate with both food lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike," says director Arijit Seth.
Why Sunrise Bhojonbilashi?
